Metallophthalocyanines are an important class of highly conjugated macrocyclic  compounds possessing excellent thermal, optical, and electronic properties. In the present work, tetra amido Iron(II) and Zinc(II) phthalocyanines were synthesized by cyclotetramerization of trimellitic anhydride derivative in the presence of corresponding metal salts using urea and ammonium chloride as nitrogen sources and ammonium molybdate as catalyst in nitrobenzene medium. The synthesized compounds were purified and characterized by UV–Visible and FT–IR spectral techniques. Thermal studies revealed good thermal stability of the complexes, with Zinc(II) phthalocyanine showing comparatively higher stability than the Iron(II) analogue. The synthesized tetra amido metallophthalocyanines may find potential applications in catalysis, sensing, photodynamic therapy, and optoelectronic materials
