Peptides are synthesized chemically either in solution or on a solid phase. The process involves directed and selective formation of an amide bond between an N-protected amnio acid and an amino acid bearing a free amino group and protected carboxylic acid. Peptide synthesis has been more practical part of present-day scientific research following the advent of solid phase techniques. Cancer is a major public health burden in both developed and developing countries. It is an abnormal growth of cells in body that can lead to death and globally the numbers of cancer patients are increasing day by day. Cancer is a general term applied to series of malignant diseases that may affect different parts of body to detect the apoptosis of SR-1 and SR-2 in MDA-MB-231 and MCF7 cell-lines, Annexin V- FITC method was applied. This study used untreated breast cancer cell lines MDAMB-231 and MCF-7 as a control to compare with the treated cell lines to check the effect of SR-1 and SR-2 on breast cancer cell lines. In Dot-plot graphs, the lower right quadrant refers to early phase apoptotic cells, the upper right quadrant refers to late phase apoptosis stage, the mitochondrial membrane was disturbed, and the phosphatidylserine appeared on the cell surface, which linked to Annexin V. This event is considered as one of the early apoptosis masses. The results described here clarify the fact that peptide SR-1 and SR-2 functioned to inhibit MCF7 and MDA-MB-231 cells viability by inducing apoptosis. This study provides a useful source for future research of cancer, the current study has tested the antimicrobial effect of peptides SR-1 and SR-2 on two cancer cell line; further studies are required to examine the activity of these peptides on several human cell lines and further characterization for these peptide properties.
